All Day Tattoo Session Tips

Tattooing, especially in long sessions, has the ability to trigger your body into going into Fight or Flight mode. To combat this, Jason recommends Diaphragmatic breathing and proper nutrition. Diaphragmatic breathing is long, slow controlled breathing which activates slower breathing and heart rate and calms the body. For proper nutrition throughout your session, it is important to eat a small amount of slow carbs and protein during each break. Our body panics when we don’t give it proper nutrition, especially when under stress. These small meals assures our body there is no need to panic, and helps fight the symptoms of fight or flight mode.
These physiological reactions are normal and often experienced by tattoo clients, it is important for you to take care of yourself before, during, and after your tattoo session to minimize the amount of stress being put on your body. This includes getting ample amounts of sleep the week before your tattoo, and especially the night prior to your appointment. It’s also important to not have too much caffeine and balanced nutritious meals prior to your appointment.
